Why stay in a "Homestay"?
Staying in a Homestay is ideal for the English language student, providing the
opportunity to speak English outside the classroom and the experience of being part
of a British home.
Britannia's Homestays
At Britannia we aim to provide students with a safe, happy comfortable home away
from home. Hosts are selected for their friendliness and their homes must meet British
Council (English UK) standards. All Britannia's hosts receive a personal visit from
one of our "Accommodation Assessors" who are trained to inspect according to these
standards.
To ensure that we provide the highest standard of student accommodation
and welfare available, Britannia employs an English UK (British Council) certified
Accommodation and Welfare Officer.
What to Expect
The Host will provide accommodation and meals as booked. Rooms will be
cleaned and bed linen and towels changed at least once a week. The student will
be provided with his/her own house key and the Host is there to offer help and advice
as well as to take an interest in the student's well-being. We aim to match a student's
requirements as closely as possible with a suitable host.
Students will not be placed in the same homestay as others of the same mother-tongue,
except by special request. English is always the main language spoken in the home.

Accommodation Zones
Homestays are located in London mainly in zones 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the
London transport system. Hosts do not usually live in the town centre as much of
central London is commercial and not residential. Zones 4 and 5 often offer more
spacious accommodation in a less crowded area. The London transport system is very convenient and if you
use the Underground, travel from zones 4 and 5 may only take a few minutes longer.
We Offer 3 Homestay Categories To Suit All Budgets:
- Standard
- Superior
- Executive/Deluxe
Standard Homestays:
Located
in zone 2, 3, 4 and 5, the accommodation is within easy access of the city centre.
Zones 2 and 3 areas include Kilburn, Clapham, Maida Vale, Queens Park, Chiswick,
Finchley, Southfields, Ealing, Acton, Islington, Golders Green, West Hampstead and
many more. Zones 4 and 5 areas include Walthamstow, Edgware, Catford, Norbury, Wembley,
Harrow, Wanstead, Leytonstone, Finchley, Lewisham and Greenwich.
Comfortable accommodation of a high standard, located in zones
2, 3, 4 and 5, within easy access of the city centre.
Superior Homestays:
More sophisticated accommodation with a high standard of decor, located
in prime areas of zone 2 and 3 (occasionally zone 1), the accommodation is within
easy access of the city centre. Areas include Fulham, Kensington, Marylebone, Shepherds
Bush, West Hampstead, Hampstead, and Golders Green, .
More sophisticated accommodation, with a high standard of decor,
located in prime areas of zones 2 and 3 (or occasionally, standard level accommodation
in zone 1).
Executive / Deluxe Homestays:
Located in zones 1 and 2, the accommodation is centrally located or close
to the city centre. Areas include Pimlico, Baker Street, Chelsea, Fulham, Kensington,
Battersea, Maida Vale, Wandsworth Common, Putney, Clapham, Hammersmith, Hampstead
and Islington.
More luxurious accommodation, located in zones 1 and 2, close
to the city centre with TV in the room, sometimes with private bathroom.

- Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner (FB basis) for juniors and groups only
RATES PER PERSON PER WEEK (valid until 31 December 2012) FOR 18
YEARS OF AGE AND ABOVE.
Students age under 18 are classified as "juniors" and special rules apply.
A supplement of £15.00 per week will apply for this age group to cover the cost
of higher rates paid to hosts (for additional responsibility) and CRB checks as
appropriate.

*EXECUTIVE CATEGORY ACCOMMODATION are NOT available on a self-catering basis. Some EXECUTIVE HOSTS will agree to provide 3 or 4 meals a week instead of 7 meals a week.

SELF-CATERING ACCOMMODATION IN PRIVATE HOMES
Accommodation on a room only basis includes shared kitchen and bathroom facilities and often a main living room. This accommodation offers an independent lifestyle and is more suitable for the long stay student. Self-catering accommodation does not provide the same family atmosphere as a homestay and may not benefit language students who need to practise their English at home. English may not be the first language spoken and students may be of the same mother tongue.
